The BaxterCannon Gallery is the collaborative space of photographers Laurie Rae Baxter and Charles Cannon. Over the past decade their combined photographic storytelling has enhanced and critically extended the capacity of non-profits and NGO’s in a number of countries to expand their reach and increase the visibility of their efforts.

Baxter and Cannon are both street photographers, sharing an abiding preoccupation with the connection between art and life and the ways they can inform each other.

Current Project: Fernwood Then & Now Revisited *
Fernwood is a one-of -a -kind community consisting of special spaces, unique residents, and lively businesses. We appreciate how each individual contributes to our thriving neighbourhood and we wish to reflect that in a visual form. This project will be a continued collaborative exploration of our community to capture and celebrate the spirit of Fernwood.
Recent Project: Halloween Pet Portrait Pop-Up
This October BaxterCannon Gallery hosted a Halloween Pet Portrait Pop Up! This free, family oriented fundraiser for Balfour’s Friends Foundation was super fun! BFF’s mission is to “provide financial aid for low-income pet owners in Greater Victoria, they help their sick and injured pets receive essential veterinary care and stay together with their families.” Prize baskets and Trick or Treats bags were generously provided by our sponsors, Paws on Cook, Bosleys and the Healthy Spot (Victoria Branch).
The Fernwood Small
The window exhibition at the BaxterCannon Gallery (dubbed The Fernwood Small) is a 24/7 outdoor gallery that creates a unique art experience and affords the opportunity to view contemporary photography with a coffee in hand.
